During the early evening hours of Sunday, a fight between family members broke out between two individuals at the King Mountain Lodge that resulted in life-threatening injuries from a knife attack.

Troopers were contacted and responded to the King Mountain Lodge for a report of an altercation involving serious injuries at 5:52 pm on Sunday. When troopers responded to the scene, the combatants had already left the area.

Troopers searched the area for the injured man, and subsequently located him near the Sutton General Store. When they found the injured man, it was found that he had sustained life-threatening injuries.

LifeMed was contacted and a helicopter was dispatched to the area to transport the injured man. The road was closed off in order to provide a landing area for the responding aircraft that traveled to the scene to retrieve the stabbing victim..

The other man in the altercation also suffered signifiacant injuries and was transported to a area hospital.

No names in this incident have been released and the investigation into the circumstances is continuing.

Charges have yet to be filed.
