Alaska State Troopers were notified on Wednesday, February 1st, at 10:14 am, of a cab found near the dump in Napakiak.
When the Bethel Police Department and Alaska State Troopers arrived at the scene 15 miles southwest of Bethel, they discovered Young Suk Chong, age 54, of Bethel, deceased in the vehicle.
Chong and her cab had been missing since 3 am on Tuesday, January 31st. The Bethel Police Department called the Alaska State Troopers about 11:30am later that morning, to report her as a missing person.
The Bethel-based Taxi Cab Co. cab and its driver had been missing for over 30 hours. Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation responded to the scene in Napakiak and suspect criminal conduct connected with Chong’s death.
Next of kin were notified, and Chong’s remains were transported to the Medical Examinor’s office in Anchorage for autopsy.
Alaska State Troopers are asking for help in the case and has requested that anyone that may have seen or spoken to Ms. Chong during the time that she was missing, to contact them at (907) 543-2294 at the ALaska State Trooper Post in Bethel.
