Two Drivers Injured in Caribou-Related Crash on Kenai Peninsula

image08-04-2015 09.03.54Two drivers were hospitalized with injuries in a Kalifornsky Beach Road collision that occurred on Thursday, troopers reported in the dispatch.

Troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision where both vehicles were totaled at 12:57 pm on Thursday. The investigation at the scene revealed that Noah Oostman was traveling on K-Beach in Soldotna, when he stopped along with other vehicles as the motorists waited for several caribou to cross the roadway.

Unaware that the other vehicls had stopped, waiting for the caribou to exit the road, 18-year-old Riley Weber of Kenai, plowed into Oostman with his 2012 Volkswagon Sedan, totaling both vehicles. Both drivers were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained  in the accident.

Troopers report that Weber was cited for Negligent Driving in the incident.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
