ANIAK-This Sunday afternoon at about 2:30 pm, the VPSO in Aniak was notified of a stabbing incident that had just taken place at a residence on First Road in Aniak. Alaska State Troopers and the VPSO responded to the scene and secured the residence for medical personnel.
The preliminary investigation conducted by troopers found that two individuals had been stabbed by Carrie Bertha Morgan, age 52, and the homeowner of the residence. Allegedly, Morgan and the homeowner attacked one of their relatives without provocation in the kitchen of the house with a large knife. The victim sustained a stab wound in the left shoulder/upper arm area.
A second relative attempted to defend the victim by shoving him aside and shielding him from attack. That person sustained a deep stab wound in the wrist during his attempt.
The first victim of the attack, was medevaced to Bethel for advanced medical care for the shoulder wound he sustained in the attack. The second victim was treated at the Aniak Sub-Regional clinic for his wound.
The aggressor, Morgan, was arrested for Assault I-DV and Assault II and remanded to the Alaska State Trooper Post in Aniak pending transport to Bethel. Troopers report that alcohol was a significant factor in the incident.
