Although the population of South Korea, diplomats and tourists are showing very little concern over recent provocations by North Korea, the South Korean and U.S. Armies are taking full note.
It was announced today that South Korean and U.S. forces have gone to a higher military posture today. It is reported that both armies have gone to Watch Condition 2, or Watchcon 2, which is the condition just below actual wartime.

This new condition level comes as new intelligence has come out of the high possibility of a missile launch as early as today.
Admiral Samuel Locklear testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee earlier this week where he stated that at least one Musudan missile had been moved to North Korea’s east coast.
South Korea is reporting that additional mobile launchers have been spotted in the area.
When asked about what joint plan is in place to counter a limited military action by the north, Locklear said he felt he should not provide specifics during open testimony.
But, when asked by Senator Carl Levin, a member of the committee, if he was satisfied with whatever un-described plan was in place, Locklear replied “I am satisfied that we are ready today, yes.”
Despite warnings from North Korea that foreigners should leave South Korea to avoid the conflict should all-out war become a reality, military and intelligence sources state that there are no indications of further mobilization of the North’s army. This has led the U.S. State Department to say it is not advising U.S. citizens to leave nor is it advising visitors from traveling to South Korea.
In response to the recent escalation on the Korean Peninsula, the U.S. military has moved two missile defense ships near the coast of the Korean Peninsula and has stationed a ground-based missile defense system in Guam ahead of schedule.
