Responders from Westlake Volunteer Fire Department, the Houston Fire Department Wllow Fire Department and Alaska State Troopers responded to a house fire on Deshka Loop yesterday morning.
When the arrived, between 8 and 9 yesterday morning, they found an 800 square foot cabin engulfed in flames. The fire quickly destroyed the cabin.
At about 10 o’clock am, responders discovered a body in the wreckage. The unidentified body was recovered and transported to the State Medical Examiner for positive identification.
A Deputy Fire Marshall responded to the scene as well to conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire.
The name of the deceased person will be released to the public once a positive identification is made and next of kin are notified.
