Troopers say on the trooper dispatch that early Sunday afternoon, they received a call from the community of Tuntutuliak that remains were discovered near their community.
Bethel-Troopers responded to the community on Monday to take possession of the remains discovered on Sunday morning north of the community on the Kuskokwim River. They were unable to immediately make a positive identification of the remains.
The unidentified remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage for autopsy and to attain a positive ID.
The investigation into the details of the incident is continuing.
