The driver of a 2009 Chevy pickup was arrested, as was his passenger, on multiple charges after a 40-mile chase down the Parks Highway early Wednesday morning, troopers reported on Wednesday.
It was at 5:01 am on Wednesday that troopers attempted a traffic stop on a Chevy pickup at mile 46 of the Parks Highway for reckless driving. Instead of pulling over, the vehicle sped away at over 100 miles per hour, repeatedly crossing over the center-line and passing other vehicles illegally.
The driver took the troopers on a high-speed chase for 40 miles over a span of 35 minutes. When the driver finally came to a stop at the Palmer-Fishhook near Trunk Road, troopers would find that the vehicle was reported stolen during a Fairbanks burglary.
Troopers say, “The driver, identified as Robert Bates-age 27 of Wasilla, was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving, Failure to stop at the direction of a Peace officer and Vehicle Theft.” Troopers also report that, “A passenger, identified as Jessica Regeon age 27 of Anchorage, was arrested on an warrant for FTA on charges of MICS 2nd, MICS 3rd, MICS 4th, Promoting Contraband, and Theft.”
Both individuals were transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where Bate’s bail was set at $5,000, and Regeon’s bail was set at $10,000 plus a court-approved third party custodian.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
