At shortly after 8 pm on Monday evening, Alaska State Troopers received a call of a suspicious vehicle on North Luke Street in Wasilla.
Troopers responded to the call and traveled to the area. When they arrived, they observed a white 2000 Chevy pickup parked in a driveway. Upon a closer look, troopers would find the presumed driver of the vehicle slumped over the steering wheel.
After rousing the driver from his slumber, troopers determined that the driver, identified as 26-year-old Jimmy Verley of Wasilla, was under the influence of drugs. He was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
Further investigation would find that Verley was out on conditions of release from a prior arrest from January 1, 2015. In that case, Verley was charged with Theft II, Burglary I, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV.
Verley was subsequently arrested for DUI, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV, and Violation of Conditions of Release.
Verley was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility in Palmer, where he was remanded and his bail set at $10,000 plus a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
