On late Saturday afternoon, the Bureau of Highway Patrol Responded to the scene of a motorcycle crash.
The Bureau of Highway Patrol arrived at the scene of a single vehicle crash involving a 2002 Honda Goldwing Motorcycle just before 6 pm.

According to the report, 54-year-old Michael Furguson, and his wife, Dawn Furguson, were out on a motorcycle ride with Michael driving. At about mile 20 of the Elliot Highway, an area of multiple frost heaves, Michael Furguson failed to negotiate the right hand turn that had a recommended speed of 45 mph. They were on their way back to Fairbanks.
It is believed that the mootorcycle and its riders left the road at approximately 55 mph. In the insuing crash, both riders were thrown from the bike.
Michael Furguson was not wearing a helmet. He died at the scene as a result of his injuries. His wife, Dawn, who was wearing a helmet, suffered broken bones and other injuries and was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
