On Monday, October 22nd, at 8:48 am, Troopers in Talkeetna received an accident report.

The report stated that a vehicle had rolled over into the ditch at approximately mile 77 of the Parks Highway.

When troopers arrived, they found a blue 1983 Jeep Pickup truck had rolled and was laying in the ditch. Their investigation of the scene revealed that there was only one occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

They determined that 19-year-old Willow resident Zachary Green had been driving home after delivering papers on Monday morning and had fallen asleep at the wheel.

Green was traveling southbound and crossed over the centerline into the northbound lane before going into the ditch on that side of the highway and rolling his vehicle.

Unfortunately, Green was pronounced dead at the scene. He passed away shortly after explaining to the troopers what had happened.

Next of kin have been notified as well as the State Medical Examiner.
