Alaska State Troopers received “a report of a single vehicle rollover at mile 3.4 of Point Mackenzie Road,” they reported in the trooper dispatch on Friday.
They received the call reporting the accident at 7:32 am on Friday morning and quckly responded to the scene along with Mat-Su Central Emergency Services to find an unresponsive female at that location. When they arrived, bystanders were Already performing CPR on the victim in an attempt to save her life. Medics would take over efforts And administer life-saving efforts for almost an hour without success. LifeMed flew to the scene as well.
The trooper investigation revealed that the victim, identified as 66-ear-old Lynette Durmbarger of Wasilla, had been driving a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the road when she encountered a left hand curve in the roadway, failed to negotiate the turn and lost control. The victim, who was alone in the vehicle, was not utilizing her seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Traffic was slowed, but not stopped at the accident scene as troopers conducted their preliminary investigation.
