The young Juneau girl who was struck by a jet-ski over the weekend has succumbed to her injuries.
16-year-old Savannah Cayce passed away at Harborview Medical Center, a Seattle hospital early yesterday at 7:45 am.
Last Saturday, the Juneau Police Department recieved a 911 call reporting an accident had occurred on Auke Lake between a Jet-Ski and two persons riding on an inner tube.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene to find Cayce and another 16-year-old girl had suffered head injuries from a collision with a jet-ski. The two were taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital where Cayce was then rushed to Seattle. The other girl was treated for a head injury and released.

Juneau Police released a statement concerning the accident. In it they said that an inner-tube being towed by a jet-ski “struck another jet ski on the water. Two 16-year-old female Juneau residents were riding on the inner tube. The driver of the jet ski towing the inner tube was identified as a 20-year-old male Juneau resident. The driver of the jet ski that was struck by the inner tube was identified as a 19-year-old male Juneau resident.”
Savannah Cayce was a Juneau-Douglas High School student. She was also on the school’s swim team. Friends and acquaintances of the 16-year-old girl gathered at Auke Lake yesterday marking her passing. There was a very large gathering in attendance.
The investigation into the incident is continuing.
