A 911 call went in to authorities on early Saturday morning at 12:43 am reporting a possible assault involving a firearm with an ongoing disturbance at the Icy Bay Lodge approximately 65 to the west of Yakutat.

Wildlife Troopers and Yakutat Police departed Yakutat via aircraft at first light and arrived at the lodge at 6:50 am.

After contacting the individuals involved and conducting an investigation, troopers alleged that 26-year-old Colorado resident Michael York, and 35-year-old Virginia resident Devon Fernandez, both Icy Bay employees, got into an altercation with a guest at the lodge. During the altercation, troopers report that York displayed a firearm in a threatening manner.

Both York and Fernandez were arrested on charges of Assault III. The Yakutat Police Department took case responsibility and has other charges pending.

Both men were arraigned in Yakutat court and held on $10,000 cash bail.

Troopers believe that alcohol played a factor in the incident.
