Anchorage Man Collapses, Dies on Hunting Trip

image03-09-2014 09.02.24Despite immediate CPR attempts, an Anchorage man died while on a hunting trip at the mouth of the Susitna River on Monday morning.

MatCom Dispatch was notified of an emergency beacon that had been activated on a Delorme Inreach SAT phone on Monday morning at 11:40 am. 61-year-old Carl Thompson had collapsed while out in the field. CPR was immediately rendered as LifeMed responded to the scene.

When the LifeMed helicopter arrived on scene, they continued lifesaving attempts, but ultimately were unsuccessful.

The State Medical Examiner was contacted and Thompson’s remains were transported to the Mat-Su Regional Hospital. 

Next of kin was notified and Thompson’s body was released into the custody of the Kehl’s Funeral Home.
