Fairbanks Man Breaks into Residence to Evade Troopers

A Fairbanks man was captured after a short pursuit after attempting to escape from troopers on Friday afternoon.

32-year-old Christopher Ryan Strickland of Fairbanks was the subject of a traffic stop for a moving violation when he failed to yield to officers and sped away from the law at 6:25 pm on Friday.

Troopers gave chase after the initial attempt to stop Strickland. Troopers report that the pursuit was short-lived. After crashing his car, Strickland fled his vehicle, broke into a home and attempted to hide from troopers there.

Troopers brought in K-9 “Skippy,” who promptly located Strickland in an upstairs bedroom at the residence.

Strickland was arrested and charged with Felony Elude and Evade, Felony Criminal Mischief III, Reckless Driving, Criminal Trespass I, and a probation violation.

Strickland was transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was remanded.
