Kodiak-based Alaska State Troopers reported on the trooper dispatch today that they had received a call from the Port Lions Public Safety Officer that 40-year-old Debra Griggs had burglarized a home in that community on July 20th.
According to the report, Griggs forced her way into a man’s home in Port Lions, stole a wallet and departed the community.
THe trooper investigation found that after breaking into the home and stealing the man’s wallet, Griggs chartered a plane, drove to the airport under the influence of alcohol and boarded the flight. Once in Kodiak, Griggs attempted to withdraw money from the man’s bank account.
Troopers contacted Griggs at the Safeway liquor store in Kodiak and retrieved the stolen wallet.
Griggs was arrested by troopers and transported to the Kodiak Jail where she was remanded. Griggs was charged with Felony DUI because of two previous DUIs, Burglary I-Domestic Violence, Theft II, Fraudulent Use of an Access Device, and Theft IV.
She was held without bail until arraignment.
