Following a morning report of a firearm related assault in Wasilla, troopers arrested and charged a Wasilla man on several charges on Wednesday.
A call went in to troopers at 9:23 am reporting an assault with a firearm at a South Lance Boulevard residence. Troopers responded to the scene and opened an initial investigation that discovered that 41-year-old Jacob Link had “assaulted a household member with a firearm at their residence.” Following the reported assault, Link left the residence in his 2007 GMC pickup.
Troopers would later locate Link driving at the intersection of Fairview Loop and Knik-Goose Bay Road. Troopers conducted a traffic stop and found that Link was driving under the influence. Troopers also found that Link was in possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
“A check in APSIN/NCIC revealed Link had two prior DUI convictions,” troopers report. As a result of this discovery, Link was charged with Felony DUI. Link was also charged with Assault III, and Misconduct Involving Weapons IV.
Link was arrested and transported to Palmer where he was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and held without bail.
