Fairbanks Man Arrested for Terroristic Threats

terroristic threatDuring the early morning hours of Thursday, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a call from the Magellan Behavior Health Center, at 4 am, reporting a subject had made statements to the effect that he was going to go to work in the morning, and then threatened to shoot a co-worker there.

It was determined that the subject, 54-year-old Bruce Bjork, possibly worked at the Utility Services of Alaska although additional calls to the center and calls to the after-hours number for Utility Services of Alaska could not fully determine that he did. Troopers also spoke with the center further to confirm the statements that he had made, and to research past contacts with him and the actions that resulted from those contacts.

At 7:30 am Thursday morning, troopers went to the Utility Services of Alaska business and checked to see if Bjork was employed there, and that the other employees present were safe. Troopers also performed a sweep of the building and also checked to see if Bjork had accessed the building before the other employees had arrived.

Following the sweep, troopers were able to contact Bjork by phone. Troopers traveled to his residence and Bjork agreed to come out of the building. Troopers made contact with Bjork in the street and he was placed under arrest.

Bjork was transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Facility, where he was remanded on charges of Terroristic Threatening.

Bjork was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday afternoon, but according to on-line court records, the “Charging document was pending or not filed.” The arraignment has been continued until tomorrow afternoon.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
