The Anchorage Police Department reported this weekend that two suspects in the March 22nd taxi driver assault/robbery that occurred in the Ulu Factory parking lot have been arrested.
It was on March 22nd that police were alerted to the crime by a 911 call by the taxi driver. Officers responded to a location outside a downtown bar and spoke to the driver who was in his taxi.
The victim reported to investigators that he had received a call for assistance for keys locked in a vehicle. When he arrived, there were three persons at the scene. He exited his cab and accessed the trunk for tools, where he was shoved into the trunk and accosted at gunpoint, beaten and robbed of cash and personal items.[xyz-ihs snippet=”adsense-body-ad”]The two suspects, now identified as, Shirley Borrero Qinones (21-years-old) and Hector Rivera (20-years-old), attempted to lock the victim into the trunk, but the victim’s leg blocked the latch frustrating their attempts. The victim crawled out as the suspects drove away.
By last Friday, investigators had gathered enough evidence to request and receive arrest warrants for Robbery I for Qinones and Rivera.
A tipster called into CrimeStoppers and patrol officers responded and took the two suspects into custody for questioning.
