Alaska State Troopers received a call from a victim who was tied up following an assault on Thursday morning about 2:10 am.
The caller stated to troopers that they had been tied up after an argument turned violent at a Eureka residence at mile 128 of the Glenn Highway.
The victim had been able to free one hand and reach a cell phone to make the call to 911.
Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers from Glennallen and Palmer responded to the call. In the meantime, the victim was able to free themselves from their restraints and when the troopers arrived on the scene, was able to exit the residence and troopers escorted them to a waiting vehicle.
Troopers established communication with 63-year-old Eureka resident Larry Kirkwood and Kirkwood came to the door unarmed and was taken into custody by troopers.
The investigation into the incident found that Kirkwood had previously been in the possesion of a firearm while intoxicated. Kirkwood was also found to be in violation of conditions of release in a prior case.
Kirkwood was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility and remanded there on charges of Kidnapping, Assault IV, Misconduct Involving Weapons IV, and Violating Conditions of Release.
He is due to be arraigned in court at 1 pm today.
