Once again, it seems that the North Koreans have severed ties with the South telephonically.

On Monday morning, the South attempted to call the North Koreans at 9 am, and no one answered the phone. The North and South Koreans have a phone schedule that they keep daily. The first call is made at 9 am, the second at 4 pm.

Last week, in the wake of new sanctions for their illegal missile and nuclear tests, which North Korea has shown complete and total disregard, the North threatened to sever ties with their southern neighbors and also nullify the 1953 armistace agreement. The north further threatened the use of a pre-emptive strike against South Korea and the United States if the military drills take place. Those drills have begun.

This is the sixth time that the north has cut phone ties with the south. The last time this occurred was in 2010. That phone link between the two countries eas initiated in 1971.

North Korea’s Worker’s party newspaper, the Rodong Sinmun announced that as of today, the Armistace agreement was completely nullified as of today. It appeared in the paper at the same time a poem was published in the paper that said that “Right now is the right time to press our missile launch button targeting Washington.”

The North continues to say that the military drills taking place to the south of them and at sea are just a pretext for a nuclear strike against them.

Analysts do not believe that the north has the capability to launch a nuclear strike, but say they conduct a missile launch of short-range rockets, but do not think the north will attempt it until after the annual war games between South Korea and the United States are complete.
