An aircraft with two persons aboard was reported overdue at 9:45 pm on Thursday, That aircraft was located during the early morning hours of Friday. Both occupants are reported as deceased.
The two victims of the aircraft, tentatively identified as 31-year-old Derek Swanson and 30-year-old Adam Norton, were found at the crashsite 10 miles north of Sutton at 3:35 am on Friday morning by a Air National Guard helicopter. The downed aircraft and the two victims were located through the plane’s ELT signal.
The aircraft and its occupants were due to return at 7 pm on Thursday. After being contacted a helicopter and C-130 from the Ir National Guard’s 210th and 212th Rescue Squadrons were dispatched to search for the plane.
Terrain, weather and the condition of the crash hampered the recovery of the two victims.
A preliminary notification was made to the two men’s next of kin.
