The Noorvik man, 40-year-old Jeffery Henry, who was involved in a firearm-related incident in Noorvik last week, was released from the Alaska Native Medical Center at 5:41 pm on Friday and promptly arrested on charges stemming from that incident by troopers.
Henry was arrested on an outstanding felony arrest warrant for two counts of Assault Third Degree, one count of Misconduct Involving Weapons Fourth degree for possessing a weapon while intoxicated, and one count of Misconduct Involving Weapons Second Degree for firing a gun at a building.
It was on Thursday, October 24th that troopers were notified of an intoxicated man walking around Noorvik discharging a weapon as he went. When troopers responded to the scene from Kotzebue, the suspect Jeffery Henry had already returned to his home, where he was continueing to fire his weapon in the house.
Troopers tried unsuccessfully to coax Henry out of the home and Crisis Negotiators and SERT teams were called in and they converged on the village on Friday, October 25th. The standoff continued throughout the day, until at 4 pm, Henry exited the house and brandished his weapon, pointing his firearm in the direction of officers. It was then that Fairbanks Trooper Joshua Rallo fired on Henry, wounding him.
Henry was transported to Anchorage and was at ANMC for treatment of his injuries until his release on Friday. Upon his arrest, Henry was transported to the Anchorage Correctional Center where he was remanded.
