An Anchorage man was arrested after a vehicle chase that resulted in two collisions and an injury in Fairbanks on Sunday.
At approximately half past the hour of three on Sunday afternoon, troopers received a REDDI report concerning a driver who was driving poorly and had run a red light in the area of the Chena Pump Road. Troopers responded to the area and eventually located the reported vehicle on the Parks Highway.
Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver ignored the troopers and continued on his way. Troopers pursued the vehicle to University Avenue where the suspect’s vehicle crashed into another vehicle on University Avenue and the Johansen Expressway. But, the collision did not deter the driver of the vehicle, and he sped away only to crash in to another vehicle at Peger Raod and Phillips Field Road, this time causing an injury.
After that crash, the driver and a passenger in the car fled on foot from the scene.
But, the two individuals were soon apprehended and the driver was identified as 25-year-old Anchorage resident Henry Mason Jr. Charges of Failure to Stop at the Direction of a Police Officer I, Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident, and Failure to Report a Collision X2, Assault IV X2 were leveled at Mason. It was further found that Mason had an outstanding arrest warrant for Misconduct Involving a Weapon II, III, IV.
Mason was transported to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was remanded.
