A Cessna 208 with nine passengers and a pilot crashed on its way to Saint Marys from Bethel on Friday taking the lives of four.
The Hageland Aviation aircraft was headed to St. Marys yesterday afternoon when contact was lost with the airplane. Hageland Aviation contacted the Alaska State Troopers at 7 pm to report that the aircraft was unaccounted for.
An hour and a half later, at 8:30 pm, the aircraft was located outside of St Marys. A Village Police Officer, Troopers, the United States Coast Guard, RCC and LifeMed Alaska responded to the scene and assessed the victims at the crash site. Declared deceased there was the pilot of the aircraft, Terry Hansen, and passengers Wyatt Coffee, Richard Polty, and Rose Polty. Next of kin have been notified.
Injured in the unfortunate accident were Pauline Johnson, Kylan Johnson, Tonya Lawrence, Shannon Lawrence, Garrett Moses, and Melanie Coffee.
Two of the injured victims were medvaced to Bethel while four more were medevaced to Anchorage to be treated for their injuries
Information such as ages and hometowns is not immediately available as that information has yet to be released by troopers.
