The Alaska State troopers have released the identity of the Quinhagak woman found off the trail near the end of the village's new runway. She has been identified as 25-year-old Lisa Johnson of Quinhagak.
Johnson’s body, at that time unidentified, was discovered off of the trail there at approximately 2:45 PM on Monday.
Alaska State troopers responded from Bethel and confirmed the discovery. The Alaska Bureau of investigation as well is a crime scene technician responded to the village from Anchorage to investigate the cause of her death. According to the Alaska State troopers dispatch, those investigators will remain in Quinhagak and will continue the investigation there.
The State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Next of kin has been notified.
