The young Akiachak boy who was struck by an ATV  in that village on Sunday night, succumbed to his injuries at an Anchorage hospital on Christmas Eve the trooper dispatch reports.

Young 6-year-old Zaret Wassillie of Akiachak was “laying down on a built up ATV trail in the dark,” when he was hit by 18-year-old Asisalyn Jackson as she was riding on an ATV with two passengers at approximately 10 PM Sunday night, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The young child was rushed to a Bethel hospital, then on to Anchorage for treatment of his injuries. He did not survive, and died of his injuries on December 24th.

Investigators do not suspect foul play in the incident.

Akiachak is located on the west bank of the Kuskokwim River about 12 miles to the northwest of Bethel.
