On Monday evening at approximately 10 pm, the Alakanuk Police Department put in a call to the Alaska State Troopers in Emmonak reporting a serious assault incident in the village.
According to the Alaska State Trooper dispatch, the investigation into the incident found that on Monday night, a 22-year-old adult male was visiting his cousin at her residence when 41-year-old Alakanuk resident Aloysius Patrick came to the residence and assaulted him.
The report goes on to relate that Patrick grabbed the man and forced him down onto a lit wood stove, holding him there for up to 45 seconds. This action caused severe burns to the man. The man suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns over his entire backside from shoulders to buttocks.

After carrying out the attack on the man, Patrick fled the residence and the victim also left to seek help.
But, Patrick would return to the residence, and this time assault his girlfriend, a 31-year-old woman. According to the dispatch, Patrick struck the woman several times about the face and body. When the woman tried to call for help with her cell phone, Patrick destroyed the phone and further, refused to let her leave the residence.
Eventually, the two unidentified victims were able to seek preliminary treatment at the local clinic. They were then transported by air to Bethel for further treatment for their injuries.
Patrick was arrested by troopers when they arrived in the village on Tuesday. He was transported to Emmonak by boat and held there awaiting arraignment. He has been charged with Assault I, Assault II(DV) and Interferring with a Domestic Violence Report.
The community of Alakanuk, with its population of over 650 people, lies at the east entrance of Alakanuk Pass, the southern channel of the Yukon River. It is 8 miles southwest of Emmonak and approximately 162 miles northwest of Bethel.
