Join Alaska Native storyteller Patricia Wade as she shares the Ahtna Athabascan oral tradition of ya ne dah ah (ancient teachings) at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7 in the Anchorage Museum auditorium.

Through ya ne dah ah (ancient teachings), Wade relates legends written down with her late mother, Katherine Wade, who was clan grandmother of the Chickaloon tribe. The legends are illustrated by her son, graphic artist Dimi Macheras. By combining ancestral storytelling techniques with modern illustrations, Wade strives to share and preserve this cultural tradition for generations to come.

Wade, a Tribal citizen of Chickaloon Native Village, has worked for Chickaloon Village Traditional Council (Nay’dini’aa Na’) since 1995 as Editor of The Chickaloon News.

Admission is free; seating is limited and on a first come, first served basis.
