It was on Monday of last week, that troopers had been notified of an assault in the village of Ambler.
It was reported to troopers that 30-year-old Ambler resident Hershel Tikik had kicked and punched his girlfriend while she was holding their six-month-old child.It was reported that Tikik fled the scene after the assault.
Troopers traveled to Ambler to investigate the incident. During their investigation, troopers attempted to locate Tikik, but were unsuccessful.
Tikik was located later in the day by the village VPO and placed under arrest.
Tikik was transported to Kotzebue, where he was remanded to the Kotzebue Regional Jail.
Tikik was arraigned on Thursday on Assault IV(DV) and Reckless Endangerment.
In a plea agreement, Tikik pleaded guilty to the Assault charge and the Reckless Endangerment charge was dropped. As a result of fhis guilty plea, the court sentenced Tikik to 60 days in jail with 50 days suspended and placed on probation for two years.
