An Anchorage man who was convicted of drug trafficking in the Anchorage area received a sentence of ten years in prison by United States District Court Judge Sharon Gleason it was reported on Wednesday.
38-year-old Max Jewett had previously pleaded “guilty” to one count of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine on December 22, 2014. As a result, on Wednesday, Jewett received a sentence of 120 months in prison.
In court, Jewett admitted to selling over 500 grams of meth as well as heroin. Jewett also admitted that in addition to selling drugs, he directed his co-conspirators to steal merchandise from stores, targeting home improvement outlets. Those co-conspirators would then return the merchandise and in return, receive gift cards from the stores. Jewett would then receive those gift cards in exchange for drugs from the co-conspirators.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney, Bryan Schroder, Jewett admitted in court to distributing drugs from October 2011 until his arrest in September of 2013.
