ANCHORAGE, Alaska-Anchorage Police are looking for a man who has defrauded more than 20 people in two different schemes.
This summer, Kyle Dwiggins, 26 of Anchorage, developed a flyer under the business name of Sooner Repairs. He stated he was licensed, bonded and insured to do home remodeling projects. These flyers (attached) were mostly distributed in the East Anchorage area door-to-door. Dwiggins would provide bids to his victims and would require a down payment of 50% for the project in order to obtain supplies. Dwiggins would either not show up for the job or would come into the home and begin a project and not return to finish it leaving the homeowner with an unfinished project. Dwiggins managed to defraud at least 15 victims in this incident.
Then recently, Dwiggins was moving out of his apartment for non-payment of rent and advertised the apartment on Craigslist. He showed the apartment to six people and collected first months’ rent and a security deposit from each of these victims.
It is estimated the total of his scheme was around $130,000.
A warrant has been issued for Dwiggins’ arrest. He has been charged with one count of Scheme to Defraud and 11 counts of Second Degree Theft. His bail was set at $15,000 cash plus third-party custodian.
Detectives believe there may be more victims Dwiggins has defrauded and are asking anyone with more information to contact Detective Tiffani Loughman at 786-2448.
