Anchorage Suspects Caught Red-Handed Dismantling Stolen Vehicle on Seward Highway

On Saturday, at approximately 12:30 pm, Park Rangers with the state of Alaska observed two vehicles and several individuals at a pull out at mile 107 of the Seward Highway. Park rangers said that it looked as if one of the vehicles was being dismantled.

When the rangers made contact, several of the individuals fled the area on foot.

Rangers reported the incident and additional rangers, state troopers, wildlife troopers, the U.S. Forest Service, and a U.S. Secret Service agent responded to the scene.

Two of the people at the scene were contacted, identified, and arrested. Troopers arrested 21-year-old Ronald Folasa and 19-year-old Loelu Sasiu of Anchorage after the trooper investigation found that the vehicle being dismantled was reported stolen out of Wasilla.

Folasa was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant in the amount of $250. He was transported to the Anchorage Jail and remanded there. Sasiu was arrested on charges of Vehicle Theft I and Evidence Tampering. Sasiu was also remanded at the Anchorage Jail and his bail set at $7,500.

Troopers say that charges on additional suspects determined to be at the crime scene are pending.
