On Sunday night at approximately 8:50 pm, the Alaska State Troopers received a report form an Aniak woman that she had been assaulted by her boyfriend.
It was reported by the victim that she had been attacked by her boyfriend as they were walking in the woods in Aniak.

The trooper investigation into the attack found that the female victim has suffered a swollen and bruised face as well as a fat lip. In addition, the victim was found to have injuries to her ears and neck where 29-year-old Warren Vaska had attempted to strangle her.
After the trooper investigation, according to the trooper dispatch, Vaska was arrested and transported to the Aniak State Trooper Post. Vaska was charged with Domestic Violence Assault II, DV Assault IV, and a Probation Violation.
Vaska was arraigned in an Aniak Courtroom this morning, he is being held on $10,000 bail and a Court Approved Third Party Custodian.
Aniak, with its population of approximately 500 people lies on the south bank of the Kuskokwim River about 92 miles northeast of Bethel.
