The 3rd Court of Appeals in Texas has reversed the money-laundering case against former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom Delay on Thursday.
This acquittal puts an end to the case against 67-year-old Tom DeLay, he will not be and cannot be re-tried in the money-laundering case that he was found guilty of in November 2010.
It was during that trial three years ago that a jury determined that DeLay had illegally funneled over $190,000 in corporate money to help elect GOP candidates through the Republican National Committee. The money given to the RNC was then in turn, checks were sent to Texas House candidates.
DeLay was sentenced to three years for conspiracy and another five for the money laundering charges but remained out of jail as his case was appealed by his attorneys.
