When served with an arrest warrant on Wednesday, a Manley man added charges to himself rather than to go quietly.
It was at 3:10 pm on August 8th, that 56-year-old Trapper Killsmany was contacted at his residence at 134.5 of the Elliott Highway.
The reason for the contact was a probation violation according to Alaska State Trooper reports.
Troopers say that when he was advised that he was under arrest, Killsmany exited his residence armed with a shotgun. It was reported that the shotgun was loaded when Killsmany aimed the shotgun at a trooper’s chest.
After a brief struggle with the troopers, the weapon was soon taken from Killsmany.
Killsmany’s girlfriend disputed the troopers account and said that Killsmany never pointed the weapon at troopers.
Killsmany was arrested and charged with Assault III, Resisting Arrest, Attempted Murder as well as his Probation Violation.
Killsmany was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center.
UPDATE:
On October 15th, Killsmany pleaded guilty to the C Class Felony charge of Assault III-Cause Fear of Injury with a Weapon and received a suspended sentence of 610 days and 730 days of probation. All other charges were dropped as a result.
