The search for 20-year-old Kevin Michaud, who had gone out Ptarmigan hunting on Mount Roberts near Juneau on Sunday is continuing on Monday morning.
Michaud contacted his family on Sunday night at approximately 8 pm to inform them that he had slid off of the trail while hunting and was trying to find his way back onto it. Upon hearing this, family members went onto the mountain to search for Michaud. Unable to find him, family members contacted the Juneau Police Department to inform them of the situation at 11:03 pm. In turn, the Juneau police department contacted the Alaska State Troopers.
Juneau Mountain Rescue was notified and responded to search for the missing hunter with the assistance of SEADOGS. A Juneau Wildlife trooper also joined the search.
Juneau Mountain Rescue and SEADOGS came off of the mountain at 5 am on Monday without finding Michaud.
The United States Coast Guard has since been notified and now has air assets up looking for the missing man.
