A collision between a Taurus Sedan and a Yamaha ATV on Big Lake Road on Saturday resulted in the death of the ATV driver, 25-year-old Caleb J. Younger of Big Lake according to troopers.
The Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle-ATV crash on Big Lake Road at 10:37 pm on Saturday night to investigate the fatal crash there.
Their investigation revealed that 23-year-old Sierra M. Mahnke was traveling south on Big Lake Road when she struck the ATV driven by Younger, who was traveling the same direction.
According to troopers, Younger had pulled onto the road in front of the Taurus and then progressed south. His ATV was not illuminated with tail lights and Mahnke did not see the vehicle until she impacted it.
Younger, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin has been notified.
Mahnke was not injuried in the accident.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
