WASHINGTON—A Miami-area resident pleaded guilty today for his role in structuring monetary transactions to provide cash for the furtherance of a fraud scheme that resulted in the submission of more than $200 million in fraudulent claims to Medicare, announced the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Federal Jury Convicts California Man of Cheating Las Vegas Casinos out of $1 Million in Line of Credit Scheme

LAS VEGAS—Following a two-week jury trial, a southern California man has been convicted of defrauding several local casinos of about $1 million by using recruits to obtain casino credit markers that were not paid back, announced Daniel G. Bogden, United States Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Texas Man Sentenced in Case Involving 3,000 pounds of Marijuana

HOUSTON—Roel Reyna, 46, of Rio Grande City, Texas, has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a case involving the smuggling of more than a ton of marijuana concealed in pallets of watermelons, United States Attorney Kenneth Magidson announced today.
