Anchorage police say that the man involved in the shooting death of auto shop mechanic, 51-year-old William Schmaus on Tuesday afternoon is being held without bail pending arraignment Wednesday afternoon.

On Tuesday just after 3 PM, Anchorage police responded to the 1000 block of E. 74th Avenue after a report of a shooting at the auto dealer and auto shop located there.

When they arrived, police discovered that 26-year-old Treyon Allridge had stopped by the shop that afternoon, and for reasons unknown, shot the mechanic. By the time police arrived, Allridge had already fled the scene. Officers with the Anchorage Police Department would locate Allridge approximately two blocks from the scene of the shooting. The suspect was taken to the police department, where he was questioned about the shooting. Allridge declined to make a statement, police say.

Police determined that Allridge was an acquaintance of the shop owner, and had visited the shop just times before.

Allridge has a previous recent case in Anchorage court on charges of Leaving the Scene of an Accident without Assisting Injured, Failure to Stop at the Direction of Police Officer, and three counts of Assault III. At the time of the shooting incident on 74th, Allridge was out on bail.

Allridge, on Tuesday, was charged with one count of Murder I and one count of Murder II. He is due in court for arraignment at 2:30 PM today.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
