At approximately 6 am on Friday, the King Cove Police Department contacted the Alaska State Troopers to inform them of a missing person from one of the vessels in the area.
A crewmember aboard the fishing vessel “Taurus” informed police that he had woke up at 5:50 am to find that his skipper, 46-year-old King Cove resident, Marvin Love Jr, was missing from the vessel. The Taurus was moored near Belkofsky.

The U.S. Coast Guard was also contacted at which time they initiated a response for the missing mariner.
A search for the missing skipper began and at 11:54 am, the fishing vessel “Amanda Dawn” reported that they had located the body of Love floating in the water about a mile from his vessel.
Because of the distance away from the nearest trooper post, the King Cove police assisted in the missing persons case.
The State Medical Examiner’s office in Anchorage was notified of the incident, and next of kin was also notified.
The investigation into the case is continuing.
