A report went in to the Kotzebue Alaska State troopers at 8:45 am on Tuesday informing them of the discovery of a body in Selawik.
The body of 19-year-old Robin Commack was discovered lying in the deep powdery snow alongside the boardwalk.
According to reports, Commack had fallen into the snow sometime before 4 am that morning.
Troopers believe that alcohol was a factor in the young girl’s death. Troopers surmise that the girl had fallen into the deep snow in -20 degree temperatures and succumbed to the cold. She was discovered just off the boardwalk next to the Selawik Health Clinic.
The State Medical Examiner in Anchorage was notified of the young girls death and an investigation into the incident is continueing.
Selawik is a community of approximately 868 located at the mouth of the Selawik River where it empties into Selawik Lake. It lies 90 miles to the east of Kotzebue.
