Consumers need to check the date on their five-ounce cans of Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea Tuna for specific dates as the two brands have issued a recall of their products because of loose seams or seals.
It was announced on Wednesday that Bumble Bee tuna was issuing a recall on five-ounce cans of Tuna stamped with the best-by dates between January 16, 2016 to January 18, 2016. The actual codes for the affected products can be seen by following this link to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Certain lots of Chicken of the Sea White Albacore have also been recalled. The dates to watch for with that product are best by February 18, 2017. Those lots were distributed to retailers between February 4 through February 27. You can view the specific codes for that product by following this link to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The one of the Vice-Presidents of Bumble Bee Foods, Steve Mavity, told the FDA, “Due to can integrity concerns, our top priority at this time is to remove these recalled products from distribution as soon as possible. We are working closely with our sales team and with retailers to help expedite the recall. We must assure our consumers and retailers of a safe and quality product so we very much appreciate everyone’s part in disposing of the products with the specific codes indicated.”
The FDA cautions buyers of the affected cans to discard of the product by throwing it in the garbage and not to feed the food from those lots to your cat.
