A Chitina man, 25-year-old William Nelson was arrested after an incident on the Edgerton Highway on Wednesday.
At 2:30 pm on Wednesday, Alaska State Troopers responded to a shots fired situation at mile 20 of the Edgerton Highway.

The trooper investigation at the scene revealed that Nelson had fired at another vehicle with a handgun as both vehicles were in motion.
Although the driver of the other vehicle was unharmed in the incident, his vehicle’s tailgate was found to have been struck by a bullet from Nelson’s handgun according to the trooper dispatch.
Nelson had his 5-year-old son in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Nelson was taken into custody and charged with Assault III and Reckless Endangerment.
He was arraigned on Thursday at the Glennallen Courthouse on the charges and posted $1,000 bail. Nelson’s next court date in on May 7 for his preliminary hearing.
