The Parks Highway at Museum Drive was the location of a two-car collision at 2:41 pm on Thursday afternoon. It was there that 53-year-old Kenneth Rawson pulled in to the Parks Highway from Museum Lane into oncoming traffic.
Troopers responded to the scene to conduct an investigation into the accident. Troopers found that Rawson had failed to yield to traffic when he entered the roadway. Troopers also found that Rawson was driving under the influence of alcohol.
Further investigation showed that Rawson had been convicted of DUI at least twice in the past ten years and so was charged with Felony DUI as well as Driving while Licence Revoked, Open Container, Failure to Show Proof of Insurance, and Failure to Yield when Turning Left. Rawson would later refuse to submit to a chemical test and so, was charged with that offense as well.
Rawson was transported to the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where he was remanded and his bail set at $5,750.
