Steven Pratt, an Atlantic City man and convicted murderer, has been arrested again, just days after being released from prison on his former murder charges. He has been arrested on murder charges once again, this time for the bludgioning death of his 64-year-old mother.
Pratt was released from prison on Friday after being incarcerated since 1984 for the killing of a neighbor.
In a statement regarding this murder case, Atlantic County prosecutor said that 64-year-old Gwendolyn Pratt was found dead in her home from what was determined to be “massive blunt injuries to the head.” Her son, now 45-years-old, was detained at the scene, arrested, and his bail set at $1 million.
It was in 1984, when Pratt was just 15, that he got into an altercation with his next-door-neighbor over Pratt’s friends hanging out in the hallways making noise. The neighbor, Michael Anderson, asked them to leave. According to records, Pratt returned to the man’s apartment with a lead pipe to beat Anderson, Anderson took the pipe away from Pratt. Pratt would later return to the apartment with a handgun and shoot Anderson. He died days later from his injuries.
Pratt went to trial for murder I and was prosecuted as an adult. He was convicted on the charges and would spend the next 28 years in prison.
