Craig Woman Dies in Fatal Klawock-Hollis Highway Crash

image08-04-2015 09.03.54Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island report that they responded to a fatal vehicle crash at mile 9.5 of the Klawock-Hollis Highway on Thursday morning.

According to the Thursday report, 63-year-old Micki Decker of Craig, was driving eastbound on the highway in a 1996 Nissan pickup “when she left the highway and hit a tree,” the trooper dispatch reported.

The crash occurred late on Wednesday night, but was not located until Thursday morning.

Decker was not wearing a seatbelt at the time off the accident. Decker’s dog survived the impact and was taken by next of kin.

State and Wildlife Troopers are continuing to investigate the accident.
