Alaska State Troopers responded to the Chena Lakes Recreational Area just outside of North Pole after receiving a report of a vehicle in the ditch and a fight at that location on Sunday.

According to the report, an inebriated Robert Thorne had gotten into an altercation with a passerby who had stopped to render aid.

When troopers arrived at the scene they made contact with the suspect and he became physically combative with the officers. Thorne would be eventually taken into custody.

He was charged with DUI, Resisting Arrest, Harrassment I, and three counts of Assault IV on Law Enforcement Officers.

He was transported to Fairbanks and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
