Following an unsuccessful search for Texas man Robert Brown in Eklutna Lake on Tuesday, in which the intake pump for the hydroelectric plant there was shut down, troopers announced that the search for the missing kayaker “have been suspended pending further leads,” troopers revealed.
The initial search for Brown, who was reported missing after he overturned in a kayak at the popular Eklutna Lake on Monday, May 16th, produced negative results throughout the week-long search.
The Anchorage Fire Department began the initial search immediately, but determined that for the safety of the divers because of the intake at the location, no underwater assets would be deployed. The pump was shut off on Tuesday in order to safely search the immediate area, but those efforts, which also utilized a remotely operated underwater vehicle, were also unsuccessful.
Brown was on active duty with the airforce at Joint Base Elmendorf-Fort Richardson.[xyz-ihs snippet=”Adsense-responsive”]
